NEW AND INNOVATIVE DIRECTIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT

05th thru 10th September 2011

This Summer School is designed to stimulate an interdisciplinary and international dialogue in tourism development strategies.

Description of content

In a relaxed and friendly environment, the school is directed to bring up to date professionals, young researchers and students about the latest methodologies to enhance the tourists’ experience as well as ways to promote places in this changing world. A variety of local and international case studies of tourism strategies and itineraries will be presented in the context of different policies which aims to valorize local resources as sustainable way to build a territorial development in a green perspective.

 

Language

Lecturers are held by a pool of internationally established professors or professionals in the field.

Lectures are held generally in English with minor part in Italian (translation to English is foreseen), therefore the school is also a good opportunity to improve English technical & scientific vocabulary in the subject of the summer school.


Social programme

The School organises for students and companions welcome cocktail, excursions, bye-bye drink, evening events in the vibrant Rimini and in the surrounding area. The friendly atmosphere of the Summer School is ideal to live and enjoyable week of study as well as to establish long term friendship & networking opportunities among participants and lecturers.

 

Fees

Full Fee: 450 Euro; Early Bird fee: 370 Euro; Scholarship Fee: 130 Euro; Two days only attendance: 220 Euro. For other special fees (i.e. groups, participants of partners organizations, etc.) please contact the organizers.

The School fee includes: welcome package, tuition, lecture materials, full day excursions with meals, use of computer lab and library, social programme, standard student insurance of the University of Bologna for the period of the course.

PAYMENTS should be done by 11th of August 2011. However, applicants by 17th of June 2011 will be entitled an Early Bird registration fee (i.e. 370 Euro) to be paid by June 2011.
It is possible to attend two days of the course without being entitled of any ECTS credits (Fee is 220 Euro/two days + eventual contribution to field visit travel costs).

Scholarships (Updated)

  • 2 scholarships are available reserved to undergraduate (triennale), post-graduate (specialistica o affini) students and PhD students from Italy;
  • 2 scholarships are available reserved for applicant from EGEA;
  • 2 scholarships are available reserved to undergraduate (triennale), post-graduate (specialistica o affini) students and PhD students from outside Italy.

Candidate will be selected on the basis of the best CV and motivation letter presented along with the application form. Acceptance will be notified by the 20th of June.

Winners will be entitled to a reduced school fee of 130 Euro. In addition, two non Italian residents will be entitled of free accommodation (nights: from 05th to 10th September included).

All other eligible candidates will be granted with Early Bird Fee to be paid by 30th June 2011.

 

Credits & Certificates

  • 3 ECTS credits, if evaluation will be positive and attendance is more than 75% of the course
  • Activity recognized as MIUR credit for the Italian teachers
  • A final certificate of attendance will be provided

Deadline for application

Applications should be done using the application form provided duly filled and signed. Applicants should fill the application form and sending it along with a motivation letter and the cv by:

  • 27th of May 2011 for those applying for scholarships
  • 17th of June 2011* for those requesting the early bird registration fee (*EXTENDED TO 30TH JUNE 2011)
  • 11th of August 2011 for all the other applicants.
